Removing Tar

Around my part of the country over the summer they resurfaced the main motorway, and this, combined with the hot weather led to the MINI getting covered in horrible sticky tar that is nigh on impossible to remove unless you have the right solution.

Trust me when I say I have tried various ways to remove the tar, from the cheapo WD40 method, to trying to pick it off with my fingernails, none of these are great unless you want to spend multiple hours getting the car spotless.

However, and this is not a sponsored post, I have found one product that cuts right through the tar and dissolves it before your eyes - Autoglym's Tar Remover.

I will swear by this product to safely remove all the black sticky stuff. What little modification I did, was to put a spray lid on top so I could squirt the product in all those hard to reach places. Take a look to see how it fared.

So here's what I'm working on, although on my MINI the tar is pretty much everywhere - and you don't even want to look under the bonnet. Don't ask me how tar got INSIDE the door... I have no idea and no, I wasn't driving with the door open!

And here is my weapon of choice. Autoglym Tar Remover, with a spray head added to it.

So give it a good spray.

And watch as you see the tar dissolve and start to run down the panels.

Give it a good wipe and hey presto it's gone!

Let's have a go on the other side.

Look at that clean door, and it took no more than a few minutes.
